The SCA – Q Grader course is an intensive certification program designed to develop and validate professional sensory skills in evaluating Arabica coffee using the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) cupping protocols and standards.
This globally recognized program assesses participants’ ability to accurately identify coffee quality attributes, detect defects, and consistently score coffees according to international standards. The course combines theoretical sessions, calibration exercises, triangulation tests, olfactory skills assessment, green coffee grading, and cupping exams.
Led by experienced instructors Johan Kwe (CQI – SCA Q Grader Instructor, CQI Q Processing Instructor, Texas A&M Q Processing Expert, CQI Q Robusta Grader) and Kris Wang (SCA Q Grader Instructor, Authorized SCENTONE Instructor, Authorized SCA Trainer, CQI Q Processing Professional), the program ensures high-level training aligned with global SCA requirements.
Participants who successfully pass all examinations will earn the official SCA Q Grader certification, recognized worldwide within the specialty coffee industry.
